History of movies

A movie is a story that is told through the acting of people with moving pictures. It is made by a video recorder and the whole acting is recorded down and shown to others to tell others the story.

It started off when English photographer, Eadweard Muybridge, took a series of photo from 24 cameras on a galloping horse. soon after, the technology was expanded and a motion picture camera was developed for the taking of motion pictures.

Soon after, many film makers started to produce their own film with the new technology and this gained popularity. However, the films were silent and only had black and white colours.

in the 1920s, new technology allowed them to synchronize the element of sound into the film and it was called talking pictures when it came out.

After the start of 1960s natural colours were implemented and slowly as technology improve, the more vivid the video and the sound quality was. and with that, more and more animations as well as special effects were implemented and animations in the current years are human-like.

slowly but surely, movies have come a long way and now, added with more features with the help of technology, movie experience are now enchanced in a way no one knew it would in the start of motion pictures.

Movie piracy, links and video streaming

There are alot of video streaming websites and torrents that let people access any video content easily, how does all these affect the movie industry? Copyrighted videos are illegal to be published online, if a website offers full length copyrighted video streaming, it is clearly illegal in this case. However it becomes blurred when only a minor part of the copyrighted content is published, it is still piracy since the content is copyrighted, however it could be justified as a small video to enhance review or analysis.

What about links to video streaming websites or torrents, are they illegal? If so one could argue the that search engines such as Google is the most illegal website that provides links to illegal content. Until all these is clear, piracy would probably never stop. My view on this is to restrain from posting any questionable links or content unless you are fully clear on the laws of all that's involved.

Rihanna to be cast in Battleship movie

That's right, the popular music artist is in the cast for a film debut with Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch in director Peter Berg’s feature-length adaptation of the classic game Battleship. The basic plot highlights battles over land, sea, and air against a “superior” alien force. According to Variety, Kitsch will play a Naval officer with Skarsgard cast as his older brother; no word yet on what role Rihanna has signed on for.

Berg has confirmed that unlike several summer blockbusters to be out on 2012, this movie will not be in 3D. However there may still be post-production 3D.

Berg, Goldner, Sarah Aubrey, Bennett Schneir, and Scott Stuber are the producers on Battleship. Shooting is going to start soon on the movie, which is set for a May 18th, 2012 release.

This boy was bullied by a bunch of Chinese kids who knows martial arts. He was then forced to go on a tournament to take on those Chinese kids. Meanwhile, Jacky Chan plays a maintenance man who teaches Dre Parker how to fight. Throughout the process, he fell in love with a Chinese girl. Although he was taught to fight using "Chinese KongFu", but the show was named The "Karate" Kid. A very cool phrase mentioned in the movie "Life will knock us down, but we can choose to get back up."

This is recommended for both adult and children. Because it teaches us a lot meaningful lessons.

The A-Team review

Movie name : The A-Team
Date of Showing in Singapore : 10 June 2010
Company : Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation
Genre : Action | Adventure | Thriller
Director : Joe Carnahan
Rated : PG - 13
Total run time : 119 minutes
IMDB Rating : 7.4/10 17,031 votes
Our Rating : 9/10

This is a movie based off the TV series of The A-Team. It is about 4 guys from the US Military known as A Team who are framed and they went on a journey to find out what exactly happened.

Thoughts after watching:
+Comedy, this movie has quite a few funny moments.
+Action, the action and destruction sequences are AAA quality and with a good plot.
+Story, the story starts off quite comically and develops slowly into a more serious outlook with different factions and with planning that is the tagline of this movie albeit it still has comical moments here and there.
+Variety, there are quite a few variety of locations used for this movie and they further develop the story at a good pace.
-Running time, if it was longer, more time could have been spent developing the story and relations of the characters resulting in a more epic finale.

This is a very good movie and I would recommend that you watch it if you haven't.

The Twilight Saga : Eclipse

Movie name : Eclipse
Date of Showing in Singapore : 1 July 2010
Company : Summit Entertainment
Genre : Drama | Fantasy | Romance
Director : David Slade
Rated : PG - 13
Total run time : 124 minutes
Our Rating : 8.5/10

The Twilight saga : Eclipse is a typical teenage romance-fantasy flick. Continuing from the first two episodes, Twilight and New Moon, the main lead Bella (Kristen Stewart) is still in the dilemma of choosing between the cool vampire, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), or the hot werewolf, Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). To spice things up a little, we have the malicious vampire, Victoria, who is on a quest to revenge for her partner. Look out for the battle between the newborns and the Cullens with their new allies.

Those who have not read the series might find it hard to understand the plot, but just go there for the pretty faces and the action. This movie is recommended for teenage girls, and boys are welcomed too if you're interested to find out why girls are going gaga over the Twilight series.

Date Of Showing in Singapore : 8 July 2010
Company : Universals Studio | Illumination Entertainment
Genre : Comedy
Director : Pierre Coffin | Chris Renaud
Rating : PG
Total Run Time : 95 Minutes

Despicable Me is a 3D-cartoon film made by Universal Studios.
Gru (Steve Carrell) , a villain who wanted to be rich and famous, was plotting to steal something no one has ever dreamed of, the moon.
Along the way, he had to make use of 3 girls whom he never expected to grow fond of.
The film shows his little adventure with the 3 girls, Edith (Dana Gaier), Agnes (Elsie Fisher), and Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), and how he got an achievement even greater than what he originally planned.

The film is fun, funny and suited for children of all ages to watch.
It contains cute and fun parts enjoyable by children and adults.
Its guaranteed to bring laughter to your whole family
I highly recommend this as a family movie and a perfect choice to take
if you are planning a Sunday movie for your family.
